WHO WE ARE
Conville and Parkdene are just two of the communities based in George, South Africa. These areas are filled with disillusioned young people. There is a high rate of unemployment, and because of this there are many social challenges.
In 2016, six young women, who lived in these communities since birth, noticed that there were many children attending school without a formal school uniform due to economic challenges. They collectively decided to act on this through enterprise development by creating jobs in the manufacturing sector.
Sew Happy Primary Sewing co-operative was established to:
- Generate income by manufacturing school wear and branding products,
- To support unemployed women to generate income
- To address local social challenges.
- To provide a basic need – supplying of school uniforms
